Phew! With Monday’s shocking news that Televerbier and Telenendaz/Televeysonnaz had failed to reach agreement over how to split the income from the 4th Valley of Thyon 2000 and that they have no agreement to offer a combined 4-Valleys lift-pass for the winter, you might be wondering how this could affect life in La Tzoumaz.
The good news is that La Tzoumaz remains in strategic partnership with Verbier, and rests firmly included in both the Verbier Grand Ski lift-pass and the smaller Verbier-Savoleyres lift-pass. Unfortunately for Siviez, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon, people staying there will not be able to access the Verbier lifts with their passes, effectively cutting them off from the world-famous resort, and dividing up one of Europe’s largest ski areas. Critically, the Verbier Grand Ski pass will still give full access to Mont Fort and its legendary off-piste runs. Whilst we still hope that the companies will come to an agreement on a combined 4-Valleys lift-pass before the ski season starts in mid-December, it is reassuring to know that at least we will have access to our favourite runs in the Savoleyres, Gentianes-Tortin, Chassoure and Mont Gele areas, along with the Attelas and Mont-Fort area to the Tortin, Bruson and of course, the magnificent Col des Mines and Vallon d’Arbi itinerary to bring us home to La Tzoumaz in style.
Of course these developments may lead to an increase in bookings here in La Tzoumaz as we are currently the only lower-cost satellite resort still attached to the Verbier brand, so our advice is to get your holiday booked early this year!
